This article talks about the election in Bihar and how the covid pandemic has delayed their election results. Because of COVID, they opened up more polling stations, which has made it harder to count all the votes because they have to access the ballots from each station and there are so many now. This is a great example of how covid has affected elections across the world this year. Even the US had a significant change in how our election functioned, with mail-in ballots affecting how long it took for Nevada and Pennsylvania to count the votes, as well as the different demographics of people who voted in different manners.
Hopefully, this pandemic can help democratic countries evolve new ways to cast ballots and count them in an efficient way. I think that in future elections, mail- in ballots will become much more common, although the issue of voter fraud will definitely have to be addressed. With the popularity of mail-in ballots rising, countries will have to build more infrastructure for their postal service, and decide how to count the ballots in an efficient manner so that elections are not delayed as they have been this year.
