Burundi is a country that is suffering from internal turmoil, and a political party that is taking advantage of this distress that the country is suffering. Burundi’s political election is soon coming up, and there are multiple cases of political corruption that are coming with it. The election is between Nkurunziza and who ever dares to be his opponent. It is said that at least 26 of people who were participating in his opposition have been killed, and since the election takes place in 2020 it is easy to assume these murders will not stop there. Also, one of the key factors surrounding the election is the debate on whether or not they want to extend president Nkurunziza’s term that expires in 2020 to 2034. The people of Burundi are being taken advantage of by this administration, and a third party in our world needs to step in and help these people.
