Summary: Over 10,000 people have crossed into Uganda as clashes continue to occur on the DR Congo border between the DRC army and militants supported by Rwandan soldiers. On March 27 and 28 2022, these militants carried out attacks against military bases in the DR Congo. As fighting broke out, thousands have begun to flee to neighboring Uganda. Witnesses have said they have seen many killed and injured throughout these clashes. Some are stuck at the border while trying to flee the violence. Two Rwandan men were arrested, Warrant Officer Habyarimana Jean-Pierre and Uwajeneza Muhidi of the 65th Battalion of the 402nd Brigade of the Rwanda Defense Forces.

DRC Forces have long been in this area fighting Rwandan rebel groups, so this does not come as much of a shock. The armys general spokesman has said they will do anything to restore peace and authority, and I believe that they should be able to. They might need foreign intervention to help assist in this. I feel sympathy for the innocent Congolese caught up in this fighting. Hopefully this situation defuses quickly and Rwandan rebel forces begin to back down or compromise. Because China has been very active in the region, I am curious to see their response.

How does this relate to IR- This relates to International relations because interstate conflict is especially in a shatterbelt region. Situations like this can lead to regional or widespread wars as more countries get involved and the conflict escalates. These situations are important to keep an eye on because this is a somewhat unstable region.
