On the subject of Venezuela not being let into the summit of the Americas. I agree with Peru in that they should not go. All of the points they have made against Venezuela and Maduro are true. The Summit is celebrating democracy and fighting corruption and it does not sound like Maduro has any place there due to their country going against democracy in many ways. Their government is also full of corruption. It is true that they should not be let in until they have “free and fair elections”. The part of this article that stuck out to me the most was when Venezuela said that, “Latin America’s right-leaning governments are part of a U.S.-led international conspiracy to topple him and take control of Venezuela’s oil resources”. I personally think this is a totally ridiculous and childish thing to say. But within these words you can find the fact that when you do back a country into a corner they tend to lash out. While we haven’t really backed them too far they you can see evidence of the beginnings of this theory nether sides have gotten to an extreme yet neither sides are happy with the circumstances. I think Maduro is feeling threatened by the other countries and obviously is not liking it.
