In the past few months the Royal Canadian Mounted Police have witnessed a growing number of asylum seekers entering their borders. This comes after the wave of Mexican immigrants were left at a standoff with the U.S. Border Security. This also comes a year after the wave of Haitian immigrants who fled the U.S. into Canada in order to secure their temporary status as citizens. Analysts believe this number of immigrants will also drastically increase in the coming months as summer turns the corner and the weather begins to warm up. I thought this article was particularly interesting because of the recent movement of immigrants further north and the conflicts they are becoming involved in with the countries they are seeking asylum in. This will be an important situation to follow in the coming months as they expect the number of migrants to more than double that of what entered the country last year.
