Throughout the South American and Latin American countries, there seems to be a lot of corruption. These countries all also seem to possibly be on a downwards trend with regards to improving economic stability.
Currently, the government of Venezuela appears to be extremely corrupt. The U.S. accused the Venezuelan government of stealing from food programs designed to help the hungry people of Venezuela, however they denied such claims. Thousands of Venezuelans are leaving the impoverished nation. Also, the UN believes that over 2.3 million people have left Venezuela since 2014, due to the poor conditions. This when combined with the fact that the Venezuelan government says that these are normal numbers proves how awful the conditions are and how the government doesn’t care.
Meanwhile, in Argentina they are seeing falling economic conditions. These poor conditions are due to a variety of factors, including rising inflation and interest rates. However, the situation gets worse due to the IMF lending $50 billion. This puts Argentina further into debt which will be difficult to break from with the already unstable economy.
Finally, there is even more instability in Brazil, with its far right presidential candidate being stabbed during a rally. He lost 40% of his blood, and now will most likely be missing most campaign events. However, there is one beneficial effect of this stabbing; his chance of winning has gone up about 4%.
