In Columbia, the state council decided to restrict fracking in their country. The Vice President of Columbia decided that he doesn’t want to damage and cause harm to the environment or people of columbia. Even though that is a valid concern, Columbia will be losing a $1.5 billion revenue a year, which is a challenging problem for columbia because they could continue to frack and risk harming the environment and people but keep getting money, or they could play it safe but lose a huge money making opportunity. In Ecuador, there is a dilemma with the wikileaks creator, Julian Assange. Julian Assange was accused of sex crimes in Sweden but was finally pronounced “not wanted”. The Ecuadorian government has been spending so much money on providing protection for Julian, more than $5 million actually. The government has been requested to provide protection for Julian Assange, but Judge Karina Martinez rejected this constitutional protection action. The Government requested for him to clean his own bathroom and take care of his pet cat. Starting on December 1st, they have told him they would no longer be providing fundings for food, medical care and laundry. Julian believes the Ecuadorian embassy has “violated their rights” because they are no longer providing him medical care funding. In brazil, Bolsonaro is causing to people think that Brazil is being threatened by having him as the president. The president Lula, got 29 million people out of poverty, since then, poverty rates have increased dramatically. What is bolsonaro planning on doing about this? During his campaign, he assured he would maintain programs and suggested sterilizing the poorest population to face the demographic concerns. He has also made many disturbing comments openly, like “i could not love a gay son” and “you are too ugly to be raped”. Recently, Bolsonaro has tried to start being more friendly to minorities and said hes willing to govern all citizens now, including gays. Not only are some of his decisions and comments concerning, but his government is feared to be a threat to Brazil.
