The South American country of Brazil has formed a expeditionary team in the Amazon rain forest to protect and preserve a an Amazon tribe. BRASILIA (Reuters) – Brazilian anthropologists are looking for members of an Amazon tribe that has had little or no contact with the outside world to steer them clear of a rival indigenous group and avoid a bloody clash of cudgels against arrows.A view of the Korubo tribe in the Javari Valley reservation, Brazil February 1, 2019. FUNAI/Handout via Reuters. FUNAI, Brazil’s indigenous affairs agency, said on Thursday the expedition set off into the Javari Valley reservation in the far west of Brazil, a region larger than Austria and home to the world’s highest concentration of uncontacted tribes. The Korubo tribe has become dispersed and separated in the forest, apparently due to the growing encroachment of fishermen poaching on the reservation. Faced with depleted resources and loss of political clout, FUNAI has struggled to prevent such activity.
In my opinion the expedition that Brazil is sending for the amazon tribe is most definitely a public relations scheme. The president of Brazil originally had plans to chop down the amazon rain forest to produce large amounts of lumber and development for Brazil. Therefore the Brazilian government could just be going on this expedition in order to find these tribal people and take them out of their homes and integrate them into society while they chop down the rain forest without fear of workers being killed by indigenous people protecting their land.
