In Colombia, there is an increase in technology on jobs that are based and companies looking to hire people. Columbia already has plenty of partners including the economic development offices of Richland County, Lexington County, and the City of Columbia; the Central SC Alliance; the University of South Carolina; Midlands Technical College; the South Carolina. On December 7, there was a meeting discussed of Columbia’s City Council’s economic and community development committee. In that meeting they faced a problem of how they could come up with jobs that help with wealth and the local community. A struggle though that these technologies jobs have to offer is that Columbia is not known for having a knowledge-based talent. “When a site consultant goes and does a project for a company that is locating, they have this matrix where they go, without a community even knowing about it, and they’ll do an assessment,” Garry Powers stated.

With technology invinoating, I think it is a great idea how more companies and more job opportunities are having an increase in demand. With this day in age, technology is evolving, and the internet/ world wide web, is growing with millions of people using technology everyday. Even though Columbia does not have the greatest wide knowledge about technology, I feel that there is more that they can do. First being, educating the people. I believe there should be a main technology company in Columbia, and start off with having classes about basic knowledge of some of the technology jobs involved. In addition, providing coding classes in the school or any other classes that are technology related. Second, if people in other countries are interested, but do not have enough resources, let them live and become Colombian citizens, while working with the company. I think overall Columbia should act so they can use technology down the line as a military weapon towards other countries. This article relates to the levels of analysis. On a regional level you have Richland and Lexington counties and the City of Columbia, is doing more place marketing. At a state level you have Columbia wanting to having an increase in interest of jobs that are dealing with technology. And finally, on an individual level you have the Central SC Alliance.
