It is common knowledge that the number of migrants in the United States of America has increased exponentially in the past few years. Mexico is taking a series of high-profile actions to show it’s trying to stop the migrants heading for the border. They have restricted travel across its southern border, touting the deployment of nearly 9,000 troops, even organizing a parade of migration officers through a southern city. The biden administration recently visited and felt that these restrictions were not having any effect. “The Biden administration is desperate for help from Mexico to contain what’s on track to be the biggest surge in irregular migration in 20 years.” When President Donald Trump faced a similar scenario in 2019 he threatened to slap tariffs on Mexican goods unless its government throttled the migrant traffic. President Andrés Manuel López Obrador did so.

Defense Secretary of mexico Luis Crescencio Sandoval announced Monday that 8,715 army and National Guard troops were deployed at the country’s northern and southern borders to detain unauthorized migrants. But while the number made headlines, it’s barely more than the average of 8,058 troops posted at the borders during 2020, according to Sam Storr, a consultant to the citizen security program at Ibero-American University who studies the Mexican military.

People fail to realize the long term implications of this unmitigated flow of immigrants. This is allowing the cartels who traffic the migrants get incredibly powerful due to the cash flow they generate. The more money they have the more power they yield. By accepting the immigrants the US empowering the cartels who will use the billions of dollars to buy more weapons and get even more powerful.  End result is that they will control the entire Central America after its left vacant since if this is continued the entire population of Central America will be in the US in a decade.
