On Tuesday, in Vienna, European intermediaries were going back and forth between United states and Iranian officials as they were trying to pull both countries back into the 2015 nuclear deal Washington abandoned 3 years ago. In 2018, under President Trump the United States withdrew from the accord, since then Iran has been steadily overstepping their limits on their nuclear program. President Biden’s administration wants to revive the accord, but both countries will have to identify the steps they need to take in order for this to happen. Diplomats say these talks could go on for many days to resolve more of the contentious issues before resuming in several rounds. Biden’s administration also said their they want to deal with several other issues, including Iran’s long term nuclear program, their development of ballistic missiles, and it’s support for proxy forces across the middle east.

This is huge for both the United States and Iran, the two countries have had many issues in the past and this revival of the deal could be a great step for them towards future positive relationships. Even though it wasn’t even face to face talk, the fact that both Iran and the United States in the same location is a big step forward. This deal could bring not only possible future friendly ties, but also safety for both countries. Iran has the strongest military in the middle east, and the United States has the strongest military in the world, if these two countries could combine with a alliance the world may be a little more peaceful. Along with bringing more safety, this would dismiss much if not all of the possible nuclear threat between the two countries, as they both possess strong nuclear weapons.

This would be a huge power move for both the United States and Iran. If thy could agree to revive this deal, in the future their relationship could grow and become very beneficial. Iran located in the Middle East where some of the U.S military is located, could ease the tension of them being there, the U.s could trade for resources like oil and in return the U.S could provide resources such as weapons or military equipment. If these two countries were eventually to come to some sort of alliance, They would both gain great international power.
