Summery: Brazil is the largest Latin American nation and plays a huge role in diplomacy especially for Ukraine. The Brazilian president has demanded and advocated for a ceasefire in Ukraine in order to implement a resolution. Lula, the president of Brazil, was very determined to set his peace plan into works and proposed it to our President. There would be a “peace club” and members of it would be large and developing powers; China, Indonesia and Turkey. The article also talks about a 30 minutes video conference that took place in march between the President of Ukraine and the President of Brazil. Lula took advantage of the conference and highlighted that the current issues were in need of a diplomatic resolution soon, showing that Brazil is determined to aid Ukraine.

Analysis: Lulas resolve is evident through his trip to china in order to help facilitate his efforts and plan. The U.S is against the idea of calling upon a complete ceasefire without the absence of Russian forces. I believe that because Brazil has a large Ukrainian population they are willing to support and advocate for a ceasefire in order to help those people. Both of the countries are prominent trading partners with each other and Ukraine has constantly supported Brazils bid for a permanent place on the United Nations security council.

connection to class: The article highlights the relationship between Brazil and Ukraine, showing their strong trading partnership. Ukraine is willing to fight for Brazil’s spot on the UN council in order for their voices to be heard and Brazil is willing to aid and support Ukraine in times of struggle. As allies they collaborate in areas other than trade such as space tech, healthcare, education, and security. Brazil has not only helped Ukraine with the war but has recognized its independence since 1991 which has been a struggle for a long while and Ukraine has fought for so long. I believe that due to the mutual respect the two countries have for each other greatly impacts the strength of their relationship.
