No drop in military aid to Kyiv since US policy shift, NATO official says

This article talks about how a senior NATO military official has made statements about the United States’ lack of decline in aid sent over to Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, with NATO sending over 220,000 tons of aid in 2025 alone. The United States is being credited this as their influence in NATO is the greatest so if they wanted to end the aid they could easily do so. There was also a new framework made by NATO called the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements Lists, which just is allowing an easy way for NATO allies to pool together resources for Ukraine.

I think this was very surprising to read, I read it completely the opposite way, and sadly also said it completely wrong in our class blog post time. But I think saying it completely wrong just shows how weird this is as the Trump administration has been very against the constant aid to Ukraine you’d think they would be starting to pull out a bit. But they’re going deeper as they’re creating new frameworks and continuing the flow of funds to show that they’re really trying to end this multi year conflict between Ukraine and Russia.

I think Ukraine will respond to this event but just maybe down the line and in the future. I believe that Trump’s plan with all of this is going to enact some sort of more friendly blackmail to the Ukrainians after this whole thing, hopefully, ends. This is going to leave Ukraine in a lot of theoretical debt so I would say they need to start planning now for the generational debt they’re about to be in for not only America but most of NATO.

This article can be linked to the idea of interdependence as America will definitely be expecting some reciprocity from Ukraine. Ukraine doesn’t want America to pull out but if they show America that they cant reciprocate all that America has given to them America will more than likely pull out as its been a huge economic drain and everyone has to lookout for themselves which is why this can also relate to realist theory.
