Following the ousting of Nicolas Maduro, Chevron has been much more amenable towards investment in Venezuela, though recently they have been advocating for more legal reforms to ensure profits. Petrobras, Brazil’s state oil company, has agreed to pay more than $853m (£650m) to the US and Brazil, ending a long-running corruption investigation.
