The Chinese foreign ministry has denied a US report that China is eavesdropping on President Donald Trump’s private conversations on his mobile phone.
Spokesperson Hua Chunying told reporters on Thursday that some people in the United States are doing their utmost to win an Oscar for best script, downplaying a report in The New York Times as a fiction.
She also said that these kind of articles are evidence that the US newspaper engages in fake news.
The New York Times reported on its website on Wednesday that despite repeated advice from his aides, Trump continues to use his own iPhone to chat with close friends.
Hua added ironically that if they are really worried about Apple’s phones being bugged, they can change to Huawei, which is China’s major mobile phone manufacturer.
