For the first round of region reports with my new region, I read about a woman being charged for the murder of Kim Jong Un’s half brother, Kim Jong Nam. There were two woman charged with the murder and both had appeal hearings recently. The strange part though is, while one of the woman was let off free, the the other was charged solely with the murder of Kim Jong Nam. Obviously, tensions in North Korea have grown due to Kim Jong Un and the iron fist he rules over the country with. I wonder if the murder of Kim Jong Nam served as a political statement against Kim Jong Un or if here were other motives behind the murder. Even more so than that, the question of why one woman was let go and the other convicted is particularly strange to me. I’m interested in this story as a whole and I pan to continue to follow it as it progresses.
