Analysis article on US suspends bilateral contact with Russia over Syria AND Russia suspends weapons-grade plutonium deal with US

On Monday, the United States withdrew from the Syrian Peace Process because Russia was not holding up its end of the deal. The United States stated that Syria still continued to bomb in Aleppo and did not uphold the ceasefire. As a result of Russia’s failure to meet its agreements, the United States decided to pull out of the agreement. However, later the same day, Russia pulls out of the plutonium deal the United States and Russia have had since 2000. When looking at this situation it seems that Russia pulled out of the Plutonium deal it had with the United States because Russia was mad that we dropped out of the Syrian Peace Process. Although, the United States has not been getting rid of the Plutonium at the rate Russia is and thinks the United States should, it seems peculiar that Russia decided to pick that day to pull out of the deal, when it could have been any other day. It seems Russia did this out of anger. However, Russia can still defend themselves and make it not look like their decision was rash. Overall, this situation is suspicious on Russia’s side and it will be interesting to see how this plays out.
