Analysis Post: Russian warships: Spain says refueling request withdrawn

Spain, backed by NATO withdrew their fueling request with Russia recently. NATO members are worried about Russia using their ships to airstrike in Aleppo, therefore urged Spain to take control of the situation and deny Russia’s request to refuel. NATO has good reason for believing this. First of all there has been reports that the Russian ships were Syria- bound, which immediately raises concerns. What makes it even more clear is that Russia would not specifically tell Spain these ships are not going to be used to aid launch attacks in Syria, this clearly shows Russia’s motives and gives concrete evidence. Spain does not want to aid in the conflict with Aleppo. This is a smart because it is something they don’t need to involve themselves as a country in any way because they would have Syrian civilian lives on their conscience. Since now  2,700 people have been killed or injured since the Russian-backed Syrian offensive started last month, Spain does not need to involve themselves in this in any way. However, a few days after Spain withdrew their fueling request, it is reported that now Russia is refueling off of North America. This shows that Russia will find a way to meet their needs. Now that Spain is no longer of help to Russia, Russia proved It is not hard for them to find somewhere else to port because they have had to in the past.
