My Gosh, Europe has been an absolute mess! Horrible leadership and economic crisis are just some of the problems that have plagued the continent. I was very happy to hear that Angela Merkel was actually going to face a legitimate challenge from Martin Schulz in the German election because I believe that Angela Merkel is an awful leader who has been in power for far too long. The migrant crisis and the way that she handled it showed how ineffective a leader she is. Another reason I don’t like her is that I believe she is the reason that Brexit even happened because she didn’t do anything to help the UK and always wanted things to be done her way or the highway. She has drove one of the biggest economies in Europe out of the EU and has shown that she can’t keep Europe together. Other countries like Hungary have threatened to leave the EU as well. She is a weak leader that needs to go. David Cameron and Francois Hollande, two leaders that had also been in power for too long, have been removed and I think Angela Merkel is next to go. I hope and pray that Martin Schulz wins this fall.
Greece is still in the midst of an economic crisis that has been going on for a number of years. Germany is refusing to negotiate unless the IMF moves forward, another reason to get rid of Angela Merkel, and the Syriza government is refusing to cut pensions or lower their insanely high income tax threshold. I can’t possibly see this crisis get any better because all parties involved are just too stubborn to negotiate. The only way I believe that anything could possibly get done is that new leadership in Germany, the IMF, and Greece who are willing to negotiate an agreement that will benefit all parties involved will solve this problem. Otherwise, there are dark days ahead for Greece.
