This past Wednesday marked the one year anniversary of the Brussels bombings. The worst attack in Belgian history. The same day where a memorial was being unveiled the worst terrorist attack was happening to London. The man who drove in to the crowd and then hit a wall has been claimed by Isis as a “Solider of the Islamic State.” When attacks similar to these happen with Islamic extremists only worsens the case for the rest of Muslims. This extremists will have bubbled up to the surface again and led more support for the United States travel ban as well as the restriction on devices larger than a cell phone on flights from most middle eastern countries. On Thursday a French man who is believed to have North African origins was arrested for trying to drive his car onto Antwerp’s main pedestrian walking street with a car that was packed with guns, knifes, and a mysterious liquid that officials have not released specifics about yet. The day after the one year the anniversary of the bombings that killed 32 people is a horrific blow to Belgium. Although there were no deaths it will leave the country shaken once again. After the attacks last year the Belgium government deployed more soldiers to assist with any signs of terrorism. This made me think that if the bombings did not happen the previous year there would not be as many people to assist at an event like this that it could have resulted to something that is very similar to the London attacks that only happened the day before. Recently there has been a rise of vehicle terrorists around that world, most of them identifying with ISIS.
