France’s ‘yellow vests’ march largely without violence as tensions ease- Analysis

France has had its 16th “yellow vest” protest. These protests have been going on since November. While some of the protests have turned violent, the most recent one was peaceful. They originally started to protest high fuel prices but have changed into an anti government movement. I believe when the protests first began the government conceded to their demands, however that was not enough. Of course it was not enough because when people see a weakness they attack the government showed a week side and now anyone who has any sort of problem with the French government thinks that if they protest with the “yellow jacket” protest they will get it. So no longer is the protest about a curtain cause but it is a platform for every cause in the country. I don’t believe the government should concede to anything the yellow vest protests are saying anymore. They should give them a proper platform to speak their opinions and allow them to go through the proper legislative system. If the government continues to concede the protesters will continue to march. I believe that the government should listen to their people and it is clear the protest began because a lack of that. However you do not give a child who is having a temper tantrum what they want because it rewards their bad behavior. You must teach the child that they must ask kindly and professionally and even sometimes argue their point, in order to get what they want. I believe the French government needs to hold their ground in this case and insist that these protestors do so. Conceding will just cause a larger problem for the French government. Not all problems presented by the “yellow jacket” protests are legitimate or should be changed therefore they can’t concede to all of them anyway.
