- In this simulation, i was representing the made up country of Malil. In my opinion, Malil was one of the teams that stood back and let our Ally, Budan, control what we did. I feel that i participated a lot within my group, but i also feel there was not much i could do to “lead” my group. With the group talks, i believe i was able to share what my group wanted to do with others. Sometimes i felt i needed “permission” from my group in order to agree to a deal so i felt that i wasn’t very valuable even though we all had a fair say.
- I’d say i went into the simulation with no expectations and early on i caught on to how it should be. I think it was good that the groups were able to talk before the simulation because that was pretty much what we stood by the whole time. I did get frustrated with other groups inability to compromise (haha) but i was able to accomplish what the country of Malil wanted in the end.
- I’m actually surprised with how much i enjoyed the simulation. I feel like at first i was intimidated by the people who are a part of model UN, but it got less serious and more fun towards the end.
- The main thing i struggled with was feeling like i could speak up, but that’s something i just had to get used to with people in this class.
- The only thing i can think of that could be changed is maybe giving people more of a say within their groups. I know most of them are extroverts, but speaking for myself and a few others, i didn’t feel i could speak up.
- I think it was awesome to see how everything that we talked about in class relates to everything. It was so cool to feel like i was a part of something real/something that is very common and relatable in our world.
