Prime Minister Johnson has proposed a new deal that the European Union is still not completely sold with. The European Union is continuing to attempt to work with the United Kingdom to avoid what they expect to have major damage if a no deal Brexit occurs. The Parliament has passed a law saying that Prime Minister Johnson must request an extension for Brexit if no deal is made by October 31st, but Boris Johnson has made it clear that the United Kingdom will leave the European Union with or without a deal at the end of this month.
I believe that if the United Kingdom leaves the European Union with no deal, the economy will fall apart, and it has become apparent that many wealthy British people believe that too. As the wealthy continue moving their money out of the British banks, the United Kingdom will continue to suffer. Swiss banks are benefiting from the lack of trust that the wealthy have in the British economy. Many people are viewing the British economy as a risk as the deadline approaches for the Brexit decision.
The new plan that was released by Boris Johnson made some progress, but European powers still say it is not enough. Prime Minister Johnson has proposed a system for goods regulation for between Northern Ireland and Ireland. While Ireland is still in the European Union, Northern Ireland is currently in the United Kingdom. With this deal, Northern Ireland will continue to be in the single market arrangement of the European Union but the UK will not. This will require additional checks to happen with goods that go between the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland.
Altogether, the new deal proposed is a step forward but is still not enough to be complete. Some of the population has lost faith in the government of the United Kingdom and I believe the rest of the world is starting to feel wary.
