Ukrainian forces have moved into Libya as recommended by the western countries such as America, Canada. In Libya Ukrainian forces are using the mediterranean sea to usalitze their drone strikes onto illegal Russian “ghost fleets.” Russia has been in violation of their sanctions by trading 61000 tons of liquified natural gasses in the meditaranian. Ukraine uses their advantageous position in Libya to strike at unexpected spots.
I believe that Ukraine has been doing a great job in this past year with utilizing their allies to choke Russia from any outside resources. Libya, before their deal with Ukraine, did not have much interaction with the ongoing war making them a good place of operation. Ukraine is also legally in the clear in this situation as the article specifically explains that Russia is illegally operating in the mediterranean meaning that Ukraine is in their legal right to disrupt this illegal trade.
If I was Russia reacting to this attack I would begin to change my approach on ending the war from using coercive violence to building up their arsenal of allies. I’ve observed that Ukraine has been gaining the upper hand in this war because of the strong allies that they’ve made such as the US and Libya. Russia also does not need to recruit the strongest of allies as you can tell by the fact that Ukraine was able to use Libya to such a great advantage while being a very underdeveloped nation.
This article relates to the terms of conflict and security because it shows how third parties can get involved by utilizing proxy operations, along with less developed countries using low budget technology to successfully attack high developed countries using high budget technology by just applying a successful strategy.
