Based on the article, migrants may face animosity, discrimination, and even death threats once relocated from Calais. I think it is human nature to oppose change and I understand why the villages receiving migrants are feeling alarmed and threatened. However, the migrants are ethnically and culturally different and if native inhabitants are open they could be in a unique position to broaden their world perspective. I feel like the area of Calais is such a natural hot spot of illegal border crossings that it will be near impossible to prevent future places like the Jungle from forming. However, this relocation process is vital to ensuring that future places will be much smaller in scale and if done properly it can set a precedent for effective and fair treatment of immigrants. That being said, I wonder if some migrants will lash out in violence against authorities moving them or if they will decide that it is in their best interest to comply with the rules.
I think overcrowding at Welcome and Orientation Centres (CAOs) is a major issue. This will increase tensions, leading to violence and maybe gangs. Their also could be food shortages, unsanitary conditions, and increased likelihood of diseases. In order to prevent these potential consequences, France needs to put effort into streamlining the process of moving immigrants into Reception Centres for Asylum Seekers (CADAs) or search for alternative housing options.
