COVID-19: Morocco Records 466 New Caseshttps://www.moroccoworldnews.com/2021/01/333802/covid-19-morocco-records-466-new-cases/

Morocco has recorded 466 new cases in the past 24 hours. This adds to the total count of just under 500,000 total recorded cases in the state. The death total is just over 8,000. there are currently 13,000 active carriers of the virus with 700 of them in critical condition. The Casablanca-Settat region stills remains the most Covid desolated region in the state with 144 newly recorded cases in the past 24 hours alone. These numbers although frightening, seem pretty average in comparison to other countries in the same region and around the world.

I believe that the article fails to give insight further into the whole picture of the Covid situation in Morocco. It would have been a better article if the data given was compared to data throughout the previous year or data in comparison with other countries within the reason. I believe that although the numbers seem scary, they really aren’t that bad. 13000 active carriers of the virus is not that high of a number relatively, which is a good sign. I believe that as long as the proper precautions continue to be taken and as the vaccine continues to be admission, the data will start to show positive results.

In class we discuss the geo-strategic importance of some countries vs another. I find it interesting that no matter what struggles a country may be facing, their location will be a permanently establish asset to that state. However on the other hand, a country that does not have geostrategic advantage is even more affected by a liability because there is no advantage that cannot be taken away.
