Pope Francis has just ended his worldly famous sour of Iraq where he visited the country for the first time. He met with Muslim and Jewish leaders in 4 different conflict filled cities. The purpose of his trip is too call for peaceful relations between relgions so that they can find a common ground. Pope Francis is the First pope to ever visit Iraq. The pope also wanted to highlight how years of war had taken a toll on the diminishing Cristian Muslim Populatoin.
It is a great thing that the pope is attempting to make peace throughout the world. In any situation, I believe that having a conversation is the best way to solve a problem. Especially nowadays, because of the Corona Virus, everyone is at constant edge so it is good to see that there are people trying to diffuse tensions and make the world a safer place.
In class, we discuss the geopolitical importance of countries and different cities. I wonder if the location of Iraq has anything to do the need for world leaders like the pope to meet. Odds are it isn’t solely because of that reason, but it still may indirectly have some influence. This is because the country that Iraq is today was greatly influence by its geopolitical location, therefore influencing the current events happening everyday.
