Recently on thursday, Greece and Egypt agreed to a deal that will make natural gas more accessible to them. They agreed to expand the cooperation in LNG which is the liquefied natural gas industry. They will examine the possibility of building a sub-sea gas pipeline between the two countries. The two countries signed an agreement to have specific energy and gas deals between the two countries. In October Greece and Egypt agreed on a plan to build an undersea cable to link their energy grids together. Greece who mainly gets their gas from countries like Russia and Turkey are looking to diversify where they get their resources from.

This is happening for the obvious reasons of expanding the country’s infrastructure. I think that Egypt would like to expand their infrastructure so they can have access to cheaper natural resources and to build relations with other countries. They are also doing this to expand and have a better overall economy. This will create lasting impacts because it will grow relations between Greece and Egypt and create a better overall economy for both of the countries which will eventually cause more and better infrastructure. So this might be just a start to expanding infrastructure.

It is in both Greece and Egypt’s national interest to expand their liquefied natural gas industry as well as their electrical industry otherwise they would not be making deals with one another. It will give them both more economical power which will eventually lead to more militaristic power. This is due to the fact that if you have a stronger economy you most likely will have a stronger military since usually countries spend most of their money on either strengthing or rebuilding their military. This will also build a stronger alliance between the two countries.
