Days after a deadly attack in Sinai, that killed 11. A general and 4 troops are dead due to continued fighting in the area. Military spokesman said that the cause of their deaths were because of militants that they were fighting due to recent airstrikes in the area. During that same fight it was said that 7 of the militants were killed as well. It was said that the clash between the two groups that caused the fighting, was the militants attacking a border checkpoint that the Military personnel were stationed at near the city of Rafah. The recent attack has been one of the deadliest in Egypts recent history when it comes to the Egyptian security forces. The attack that took place Saturday was claimed by the islamic state group.
I believe that what happened in Egypt is horrific. With things like this happening all over the world, these issues should be talked about more, so that more people can learn of them. As most conflicts in the middle east have a lot of history to them, this issue will not simply go away. If real progress is wished to be made, then there has to be real change. My belief is that with the right resources and moderators maybe, even though this does seem like a childish point of view, with the right talks and compromises this issue could be resolved. Though, as I said, that is childish thinking that talking some things out will solve it especially with an issue like what is going on in Egypt.
This article relates to the international relations and comparative government class because the area of Sinai could be classified as a buffer. It separates not only most of Egypt and Israel, but also most of Egypt and the Gaza Strip. Along with the war between Israel and Egypt for the land in 1967. Sinai is a major historic core to both countries and others in the region dating back to prehistoric times. Now the area is in conflict because militant groups which relate back to the comparative government part because the area was taken over by militant groups which have made it become unstable so now it seems to be starting to become an autonomous region
