This is truly incredible. The fact that this is what had to happen for people to take notice is a bit incredulous but these women are really bringing attention to a new movement for all of India. Women fighting for equality is not a new phenomenon but these women have actually gotten through and taken a stand. First of all, it’s completely ridiculous that women of “menstruating age” aren’t allowed in a holy place because they are deemed as “dirty”. Pretty much everywhere women menstruating is viewed as something to be kept discreet and out of sight, this is just a step forward by bringing religion into the mix. I don’t understand how a culture could be so stuck in tradition that they still live by decades old rules and limitations. Religion shouldn’t be about segregation but about everyone joining together as a unit because of like beliefs. Cultures distort this and make it into something that it’s not. I really commend these women for their bravery and courage. India is known as the country most dangerous for women, so they really had a lot to risk. I hope that women everywhere take this as an example and learn that they are not alone. Women, and even a few men, stick together.
