In western and northern Afghanistan there have been a series of Taliban attacks on the country’s security forces and police officers. The taliban has been over running police outposts and killing handfuls of officers at a time. According to reports from President Ashraf Ghani about 28,589 afghan troops have been killed in fighting since 2015. The Taliban has taken full responsibility for these acts of violence. Afghanistan and US Afghan representatives have been trying to restart peace negotiations with the Taliban, this is about the 4th time a peace agreement has been attempted between the two parties.
Because of the amount of times that peace negotiations have been attempted and have not yielded any results, in fact things have gotten worse in some areas. I believe Afghanistan should bring the fight to the Taliban in order to try to end the Taliban attacking their police outposts and taking down their law enforcement. According to reports the Taliban has refused to meet with the Afghan government, therefore I believe peace negotiations are going nowhere and I think that in order to minimize casualties, the Afghanistan government needs to bring the fight to the Taliban.
