During all my years in high school, I’ve never researched something so interesting. There’s a large scale terrorist-militant group known as Boko Haram operating in Nigeria, and it is being virtually ignored by the international community.
“Boko Haram” not only has a strong grip on Nigeria, but has had a devastating effect on the people of Niger. Due to the low donation, and in-effective methods being used to try and deliver aid, over 4 million people in the region are severely food-insecure, and Boko Haram has an ideal breeding ground for new recruits.
While the Nigerian government is currently working on “economic growth,” and “greater investment” legislation to address the crisis, I believe collective attention and resources from the international community will be required to fight the immediate fight that is ‘Boko Haram’ first.
