I think it is interesting how the media can put pressure on the president to disclose his health. It is also illustrative of how little privacy the president has.
He is in a very tough position since his country is in desperate need of strong leadership yet he can only push his body so far. His wife’s tweet only made the situation worse because it is obvious something is going on and trying to deny it is hopeless. Also, it is very difficult to discern the severity of the situation with the media and his wife taking opposite sides. However, based on the fact he had to leave the country for seven weeks to get medical treatment it probably lies somewhere in between what each party is saying. I would like to know how respected the vice president is and how capable he would be if the president stepped aside. At this point, the president should take medical leave because he is of far more use alive in a couple of months than dead in the coming weeks because he is pushing himself so hard. Also, Nigeria needs a strong, decisive leader to fix the economy and the president physically is incapable of providing that at this point in time.
