Eighteen people drowned in boat accidents last weekend, nearly a week after 50 died when an overloaded boat capsized. Twelve people lost their lives on saturday when their boat capsized after all the heavy rainfall on the River Kaduna. Another 18 from the same boat were fortunately rescued by marine police. On Sunday, 6 farmers died when their canoe overturned on the River Benue in the northeastern state of Taraba. Divers continue to search the waters as the number of people that were on these boats is still uncertain.
