the majority of problems in sub-Saharan Africa for the most part pertain to a few different causes. The biggest problem is the border disputes and set boundaries. This problem arose because of European colonization. Before 1936, only two countries ( Ethiopia and Liberia ) where independent in Africa, the rest was controlled be European empires. In 1937, Ethiopia was also annexed by the Italians. The Europeans drew all the present borders in Africa, yet the didn’t take into consideration the hundreds of different ethnic groups in Africa. This problem has led to multiple revolutions, coups, and separatist movements. Another major problem Africa faces is the amount of corruption in the governments. Several elections have been “questionable” and have had to be recounted. The lack of basic human needs, and abundants of diseases also don’t help the situation in Africa either.
