Analysis Post: Nigeria

Nigeria has been a long-thought about country in Africa; its oil resources place the otherwise resource scarce country into the global market. Therefore, many are educated on Nigeria’s unstable, mildly predictable past. However, the current president, despite his past, is seen by the citizens as honest – an important characteristic in a leader. He has established a food security council to ensure that the citizens of Nigeria don’t starve… how much this security council will actually do is unpredictable, but, the fact that Buhari made this council sends good feelings around the globe.

Furthermore, because of Nigeria’s oil reserves, they’re at competition in the market with powerful entities like Saudi Arabia. However, this also means Nigeria is “close” with the latter country, in making deals on oil prices, etc.. The fact that Trump is reaching out to Nigeria’s president, Buhari, is a good sign because we want to instill strong, foundational democracy in the country, and not allow places like Russia or Saudi Arabia to stabilize the country.
