Sure, I understand Buhari’s argument… BUT I think the real reason is that if the trade deal is signed, then Nigeria, and Buhari, won’t have as much control over what/how things are produced. It is globalization, which leads to purer democracy, which is for sure something that Nigeria is lacking. I think that the trade deal is not being pursued by the president because it simply adds more blockades in his way of governing. Buhari even said that competition is something you must fight, pulling away from a free market and free trade – a free trade agreement is simply not something he wants to deal with.
