In South Africa in 2017, a man was shot a killed in his car. Sindiso Magaqa, a well known party leader in the country, was shot in a “mafia style” killing. It has now been released that they have arrested the man they believe to have been in charge of this attack. Mluleki Ndobe, a very powerful African National Congress power broker in the KwaZulu-Natal Province, was arrested this past weekend. This murder only goes further to prove how corrupt governments are all around the world. The people of South Africa specifically are fed up with their government. Magaqa was a known supporter of the people and fought against theft of public money. This is not the first time a member of the A.N.C. has targeted a “whistle blower”. This is just one of many that have led to the decline of the organization. Because of the “political sensitivities” few are usually convicted.
This is just an example of how poorly governments are usually run. While in the United States, even though the president has a lot of non-supporters, the government still functions fairly efficiently. While I’m sure corruption is still present in this country, it’s obviously a much bigger issue in other countries. Government was initially an idea designed by the people and for the people. I think that needs to be brought to light again.
