On December 1, 2021 the Chinese embassy in Zimbabwe donated to the Angel of hope foundation. The Angel of Hope foundation was founded for women engagement in Zimbabwe by making detergents and cleaning items. The Chinese embassy donated several items consisting of cooking oil, sugar beans, sugar, drums of soap stock, acid oil, and dolomite and caustic salt that is for green salt making. The Chinese soap making materials have already started to be used to make soap and other cleaning products that will go to impoverished communities in Zimbabwe. This is one of many donations that the Chinese embassy has made to foundations in Zimbabwe.
The reason that this article is important is because it is showing more Chinese involvement in African countries. As said earlier this is not the first time that the Chinese embassy has donated a large amount of items to foundations in Zimbabwe. The relations between these two countries have grown so close that the Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Madam Wang Wei said that their great relations with the Angel of Hope Foundation has become unbreakable. China doing with their constant support and help in African countries starting with their belt and road initiative is now going to make it harder for the United States to get their foot in the door.
This relates back to our class because it is a state or country that is helping out another state by donating goods to an organization. It also goes back to what we’ve been bringing up in class so much, which is China’s involvement in African countries. This goes back to the whole talk of how we are in a uni-polar system with China and India on the rise. The reason that China has started to become more of a superpower is their global outreach is becoming much bigger. This shows that unlike before where anytime you wanted to side with a world super power than you would have to side with the United States. Now we can see that China has become a popular choice in Africa.
