The corruption in Rio is selfish and is causing an unnecessary uproar in the city . The president was impeached and now the governor is facing serious charges. These scandals are crushing the trust the people have for the government. If this continues the people of Brazil will start having more violent protests in order to bring someone into power, that they believe, will not succumb to greed and selfishness. Unfortunately the temptation to “look out for yourself” will always be prevalent. This has proven to be true even in the US. Scandals have risen about President elect Trump, causing an uproar of protesters demanding, that the future president be impeached and replaced with a better candidate. Having similar governments, Brazil and the US can relate to this corruption. Looking at Rio’s government, it is fair to state that a “clean sweep” is in order to identify and remove any outstanding flaws in the political system. This is easier said than done because the eradication of all corruption is nearly impossible. However, there should be extensive measures taken, to look into every person involved with Rouseff and Cabral. Though it will be difficult to pin point where the corruption starts and ends, it will help to see who is truly working in the best interest of Rio. Interviews should be conducted to get insight on what is happening behind closed doors and protection should be given to anyone who gives vital information to stop the chaos. Without having a reliable government, nothing will get done to better the city or help their financial situation. The government needs to help itself before the people take it into their own hands.
