It’s definitely time for American to look in the mirror and evaluate itself.  Many of us need to spend the next 6 weeks thinking hard about how the Washington “establishment” is viewed.  If I recall correctly, Donald Trump spent much of his campaign time bashing the inefficacy and unqualified nature of Hillary Clinton in her tenure as Secretary of State.  Yet this same man now considers for this same office the following people: former general David Petraeus, a man who willingly gave classified information out to his mistress, Mitt Romney, a man with no political experience beyond state governor, and Rex Tillerson, the former CEO of Exxon Mobil and a man with absolutely no political experience whatsoever.

Truthfully, I’m not surprised that Trump would appoint such poor excuses for cabinet members considering he claimed to know more about ISIS than the generals did (believe me).  However, today we face a more complex threat environment than ever before.  We need people who are strong and savvy, not former CEOs, state governors, or people who knowingly jeopardize the safety of America and its people.

And speaking of jeopardizing America’s safety, we need to acknowledge that Russia represents a continued threat to the United States, and NOT a potential partner on the global scene.  Just as there is a reason why protests against a Trump presidency have occurred across the country, there is also a reason why countries the world over don’t associate with Russia and abhor the possibility of any kind of U.S.–Russia relationship.  Russian interference very likely skewed our election in favor of Donald Trump, something Trump refuses to accept and has criticized the intelligence community for suggesting.

Ultimately, America seems to have a need to feed its ego before it can successfully reintegrate itself into the global arena.  I’ve heard this election called a perfect storm, but I still can’t help feeling that I missed something.
