Analysis Post: Espirito Santo police return to work after murder wave

Police officers in Brazil participated in a strike because of unfair and low wages. The result of this strike was as expected; mad chaos erupting. Just in eight days: 144 murders occurred, which is more than a six-fold increase in murders as well as much more looting, assaults, and vandalism. Now, 1000 police officers have come back to the job, however that still leaves 10,000 continuing to participate in the strike.

The police are also angered because the public blames violence on them. This is an unfair statement and it is understandable why the police are mad. Nobody blames the doctors for the bad conditions of their health plan system, so then why are the police blamed for something out of there control.

This strike showed that the population really does need them, however, it is sad that the public had to find this out in a way that resulted in deathly consequences. I understand the police’s frustration because on top of getting paid low they are also criticized for things that most of them can’t control. her places.

You can take this situation it seems and apply it everywhere. In the United States often times police officers are looked down upon because of not being able to handle a situation perfectly. I know that not every police officer is good, however, it goes that way in all jobs. Police Officers need to be treated well so what is happening in Brazil doesn’t arise in other places.
