Last week the police in Colombia Seized over 12 tons of Cocaine from one of the top gangs called the “Gulf Clan”. This was Colombia’s biggest drug bust in history. Over the past few months they have also arrested over 1500 members of this gang and the leader had recently said that he will turn himself in along with other members, but wither he will or not I’m not sure. Either way this is a huge victory in Colombia and will hopefully stop some of the drug dealing in the Americas. Colombia is one of the leading producers of cocaine with an estimated output of around 910 tons per year. Out of these 910 tons the police have seized about 362 tons this year, so you can see how its still a very big issue in Colombia. About 90% of the Cocaine in the U.S is from Colombia so the U.S is also very eager to help stop these gangs from dealing and had even offered a 5million dollar reward for information on the leader of the “Gulf Clan”.
