Analysis: Protesters clash with police as Honduras election crisis grows

Last week there was a presidential election in Honduras where the winner was uncertain. The votes came very close so there was a call for a recount. Many of the people of Honduras believe that there is voting fraud going on and that the current president Juan Orlando Hernandez messed with the vote. President Hernandez is unconstitutionally running again for a second term which is causing several riots along with the protesting of the believed voter fraud. The police and military have begun cracking down on these protests responding with tear gas and most recently implementing a curfew. The curfew is from 6PM-6AM implemented to stop the mass protesting. This is a very difficult situation because of how violent a country Honduras is, there are many gangs and it has one of the highest murder rates in the world. The protests could get extremely out of control if not dealt with. The other candidate Salvador Nasralla has also told the military to get rid of the curfew and that he supports these protests.  I hope that they find the real votes soon and the protests come to a stop in a peaceful way. Unfortunately though it does not look like a very good situation with Hernandez looking like the winner the protests and violence will continue.
