I do not deny the fact that we are a nation of laws and in order for us to be seen as a world power we need to uphold these laws. But something that needs to be understood in this country is that generalization is bad for business. Not all democrats believe in open borders and not all republicans believe that people of color are murderers and rapists. The migrant caravan situation is currently a highly debated topic. In my opinion, the United States ought to very careful in the way they handle it. People may not like immigrants or refugees on American soil but at some point your own family came from somewhere outside of the US (unless you are Native American). These migrants are seeking asylum, which is something they have a right to in the United States. The US is legally obligated to hear asylum claims and then have the right to send them away or welcome them in. To require these migrants to first seek asylum in Mexico and then allow them to seek asylum in the US only after Mexico denies seems to be a last ditch effort to rid them from anywhere near our borders. Not only is the government playing a game with our laws but they are also taking part in the spreading of fake news; specifically the President of the United States. Since the start of his campaign, Trump has continuously called out the media networks that point out his wrongdoings. So the fact that he feels he can make innuendos that middle-easterners are a part of this caravan, insinuating that there might be terrorists coming for the US is harmful for everyone involved. His comments do not contribute to any solutions rather it draws the fear of voters in the upcoming midterm election.
