Bolsonaro, the new president of Brazil says he is open to the idea of the United States putting a military base in his country. Bolsonaro reasoning is that the neighboring country of Venezuela whos dictator is nicolas maduro, has support from the russian government. This certainly causes tension between the two countries and makes Bolsonaro feel threatened. This situation is similar to the cold war when the USSR put a military base in Cuba to become a fear factor for the United States. In an interview conducted on Thursday Bolonaros main point is that he wants Brazil to reign supremacy in South America.
Bolsonaro has a military background including being a former army captain of Brazil’s military dictatorship. He has quickly tight end ties between Israel and the United States to gain protection and partnership.
Bolsonaro has made it one of his goal to move the Brazilian embassy in in Israel to Jerusalem. Many Arab nations would be angered about this and the agricultural sectors in Brazil are worried this would cause then to stop buying the billions of dollars worth of meat they get from Brazil each year. Bolsonaro has also made it a point to get technology such as drones from the United States and Israel to try to beat the war on the heavily armed drug cartels.
