A recent shooting in Cancun has sparked an investigation in what exactly is causing the shootings. Hundreds of people were killed last year and even more are projected to be killed this year. A new drug cartel is trying to compete against local cartels which are causing many civilian deaths. This is a problem that needs to be solved as soon as possible because this means that more drugs will be on the street and more lives will be at risk.
There needs to be an improvement in security in crowded areas and hotspots. With an increase in security people could feel safer and if all the drug cartels were terminated then Cancun’s economy would increase because of tourism. Tourism is one of the main sources of money that Cancun receives and if fewer people visit that place then the overall economy will begin to drop. If a little more money can be used to improve security then it will help Cancun in the long run in regards to improving the economy.
