This article reiterates the on-going division between both parties, specifically, the outcome of the Unites States 2020 Presidential Election between previous Vice-President Joe Biden, and President Donald Trump. On Saturday morning, November 7, Joe Biden was projected to be the 46th President of the United States.

However, President Trump, as predicted, has refused to concede. While democrats across the country celebrate in victory, dancing and honking horns in several major cities in the U.S, as well as the nation’s capital.. President Trump resided at his Virginia resort playing golf and tweeting that the election was “stolen from him”.

Despite President Trump’s tweets, both republicans and democrats have congratulated Biden and Harris on their win. Romney critized Trump for claiming that the election was “rigged, corrupt and stolen”. This shows that are some republicans that acknowledge Biden and Harris’s victory and are embarrassed that our democracy is being debated. However, there are still many republicans following in President Trump’s footsteps by continuing to echo that there was major voter fraud during this election, even with a lack of evidence. This continues to show the United States the power that Donald Trump holds with his supporters. Even if Trump leaves the White House it will not remove the party that has followed him.

The on going division of political partisan in the United States will test President-elect Joe Biden. Will he be able to “heal” this nation and be a president for all. Will republicans and President Trump concede, if not, what happens? Will civil war break loose? Will our democracy crumble? These are all questions we ask ourselves while living in America at this time. The future of America not only affects us as a nation, but our allies and competitors. The disagreement and inability to unify makes America vunerable, and could allow nations such as China to grow in strength.

Fireworks were set in London and church bells were rung in Paris. Many political leaders across the globe have already recognized and congratulated Biden and Harris. Some of these leaders are: the Prime Minister of England, Canadian leader Justin Trudeau, Irish Prime Minister Micheal Martin, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison, South Korean President Moon Jae and even the Paris Mayor Anne Hidalgo tweeted “Welcome back America!”. The long list of foreign responses give hope to the United States to maintain and develop new healthy foreign relationships.
