On Thursday Mexican authorities confirmed that they intercepted over one thousand undocumented migrants in the last twenty four hours that were trying to seek their way into the United States. Ten percent of the migrants were minors and many of those minors many of them were traveling alone. In total there were one thousand two hundred sixty six illegal migrants from a number of different countries. Among the groups intercepted there were thirty three nationalities. These migrants are fleeing mainly due to the violence and poverty within their home countries. There were over seven hundred men and over three hundred women.

It is good to know that Mexican authorities are working to capture these migrants before entering the United States. This article is important because the United States has been working to resolve the problem of illegal immigrants entering the United States through the Mexican American border. Although there will most likely always be illegal immigrants entering the United States because it is essentially impossible to stop everyone, it’s good that Mexico is doing what they can to stop them.

This article is related to what we talked about in class because of Mexico’s national interest to not make the United States mad. Mexico is doing what they can to stop these immigrants from entering the United States to stay on the United States “good side.” This is also related to what we have talked about in class because the National Migration Institute is an international organization that is working to slow the surge of immigrants entering countries illegally. The United Nations refugee agency, which is another government organization, released a statement saying that the number of migrants crossing the Mexican border increased a lot in January.
