Mexican president wants to meet with Biden in Washington on migration, drug trafficking

The president of Mexico wants to meet with Joe Bien over growing concerns about migration and drug trafficking. This comes after a large number of migrants moved through Mexico causing the closure of a few U.S.- Mexico borders. Also, about 60 train runs of Mexico’s largest railway company because so many migrants hopped on them trying to get across the border, most of them appearing to be Venezuelans. Both Mexico and the United States have been dealing with the struggle of the migrants moving in with Texas being 95% full in their migrant shelters, and Mexico having over 140,000 migrants waiting to register for transit paper in Tapachula with the Mexican government saying “we need reinforcements because it is impossible to process 140,000 people.”

It is good that the president of Mexico wants to meet with Biden because this is a growing problem that needs to be solved which can only be solved by both of the bordering countries working together. This could have lasting impacts because of deals that America and Mexico could make to try and solve these migration problems. The main reason this is happening is because countries in South America want to come to the most powerful country in the world the United States of America. Because most of the citizens of many South American countries are third-world countries such as Venezuela.

This relates to our international relations class because it is two countries working together to solve a severe problem that they are both facing. It can lead to the United States funding Mexico to help with their migration crisis because it would also help the United States. Mexico and the United States of America are both working at a domestic level to secure their borders from the migration crisis. The migration shelter problem in Texas could be helped by certain NGOs that would build shelters for the migrants so they could be housed in America while they wait to qualify for their U.S. citizenship.
